Abdul Wahid Al-Shehhi, an architect and former director of the Roads Department at the Ministry of Works, was arrested by the UAE authorities on charges of belonging to the Eslah society.
He was subjected to various types of violations, including enforced disappearance, torture, and arbitrary detention without trial. He was kept in a secret place without any charges for 9 months, and without any contacts. 
Although he finished his sentence 3 years ago, the UAE authorities are still holding him, claiming that he is a danger to society.

His apprehension and trial 
On March 26, 2013, the UAE State Security forces arrested Al-Shehhi from his in Ras Al-Khaimah and took him to an unknown place. 
The circumstances of his detention are vauge, as he remained detained in an unknown placeuntil November 3, 2013. Since then, he was brought before the State Security Department of the Federal Supreme Court on charges of joining a secret organization and financing it.
On March 3, 2014, the court sentenced Al-Shehhi to five years imprisonment and confiscaition of 150,000 dirhams, which was found in his house. 
Although he finished his sentence since March 26, 2018, the UAE authorities refuse to release Al-Shehhi, and keep detaining him in the Munasaha Center in Al-Razeen Prison.
